Another Stumbling Block...

I just got off the phone with Judy this morning and she heard from their insurance company regarding Mike's chemotherapy treatments. Their insurance will NOT cover the expense of his chemotherapy because the chemo that he needs for his type of cancer is a Stage 2 experimental treatment. Therefore, it is not approved by the FDA and insurance won't pick up the tab.

Judy said there is somewhere she was going today where she had to take their tax information, proof of earnings, etc. to see if they can somehow get a reduced rate. As we all know though even a reduced rate on medical treatments is still so costly.

She is also worried because they need to get his treatment started as soon as possible and all of this paperwork and other junk that these insurance companies and hospitals put you through is wasting precious time.

Yes, go through the paperwork to get the costs reduced. And then, hopefully, they will be able to make payments based on ability to pay. I had major surgery (not nearly this serious) and that is what we were able to do. We are paying $50 per month. A year ago we re-sent paperwork and the overall amount owed was reduced again so the amount owed isn't so overwhelming now. However dh just had an expensive procedure done and his bill (again, reduced) was added to mine. But, we are just paying $50 per month which is all we can afford. Prayers to Mike and the entire family.

Hi a, Thanks for your comment. Judy went and filled out all the necessary paperwork today. I will make another post about that for tomorrow. I'm sure she will see your comment here. Thanks again.
